WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction activity will continue this week along Business U.S. 322 (High Street) in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township as part of an ongoing project aimed at improving safety and traffic flow at key intersections.
From Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1, lane closures with flagging will be in effect between Miner Street and Norfolk Avenue from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily to accommodate line striping operations. Motorists should anticipate delays and plan additional travel time. Work is weather dependent.
The $2.6 million federally funded project includes the installation of modern traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, as well as upgraded signal supports, retroreflective backplates, LED lighting, and pedestrian countdown timers. Additional enhancements include curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, drainage improvements, and full-depth pavement reconstruction followed by resurfacing.
Marino Corporation of Skippack is serving as the general contractor. Construction is expected to be completed by winter 2026.
