WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced ongoing roadway construction along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, Chester County, as part of a safety improvement project.
From Monday, January 6, through Friday, January 10, lane closures with flagging will be in place on Business U.S. 322 between Barnard Street and Dean Street. The closures will occur daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists traveling through or near the work zones are advised to plan for delays and allow extra travel time. All construction activities are weather dependent.
The project includes the installation of updated traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, retroreflective backplates on existing signals, modern LED luminaires, and pedestrian countdown timers. Additional improvements involve curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, drainage upgrades, and comprehensive pavement restoration, culminating in full roadway resurfacing.
Marino Corporation of Skippack, Pennsylvania, is overseeing the $2.62 million project, funded entirely by federal monies. Physical construction is expected to conclude in winter 2026.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to remain alert, exercise caution near work zones, and follow all posted detour or traffic instructions.
