WEST WHITELAND TWP, PA — Drivers using the U.S. 30 (Exton Bypass) should prepare for overnight closures and detours as milling and paving continue under a $6.8 million sinkhole remediation project in West Whiteland and East Caln townships.

Westbound U.S. 30 will close on weekday nights between Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) and Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue). Drivers will be directed to use Route 100 and Business U.S. 30 around the closure.
Eastbound U.S. 30 will close during the same hours between Quarry Road and Whitford Road. Drivers will be directed to use Quarry Road, Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and Route 100 (Pottstown Pike).
Motorists should plan extra time when traveling through the area or along the detour routes because backups and delays are expected. Seek alternate routes when practical and remain alert for changing traffic patterns near the work zones.
The schedule is weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions are unfavorable.
The closures are part of a federally funded project to complete permanent sinkhole repairs at two locations on U.S. 30 between Business U.S. 30 and Clover Mill Road.
Crews are using a limited-mobility grouting process that involves drilling holes through the pavement in a grid pattern and injecting pressurized grout into underground voids. PennDOT expects the work to stabilize the ground beneath the highway and reduce the risk of future sinkholes.
Additional improvements include pavement reconstruction, drainage pipe replacement and stabilization of roadside swales. Road-Con of West Chester is the general contractor.
