TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA — The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District plans to present a districtwide elementary redistricting proposal Nov. 19 and seek board approval Nov. 23, setting up a decision that could change school assignments for families across all six elementary attendance areas ahead of Bear Hill Elementary School’s August 2027 opening.
The proposed boundaries will be developed to accommodate the new school at 1200 West Swedesford Road in Berwyn, increase elementary enrollment capacity and support the district’s planned implementation of full-day kindergarten, according to information published by the district.
The redistricting process extends beyond establishing an attendance area for Bear Hill. It involves redefining boundaries for all six elementary schools to distribute enrollment across the district.
A Redistricting Steering Committee composed of 10 district parents, an administrative liaison and an external facilitator has been developing the proposal.
The committee has evaluated enrollment projections, classroom capacities and other factors affecting school assignments.
The proposed plan is scheduled for presentation at a special School Board meeting Thursday, Nov. 19, followed by an anticipated vote at the board’s regular meeting Monday, Nov. 23.
Families will receive information about their attendance assignments after the board reviews and approves the final boundary plan.
The district has also identified Dr. Stephanie Demming as Bear Hill Elementary School’s principal.
Demming previously served as principal of Beaumont Elementary School from 2004 through 2026, bringing more than two decades of administrative experience within the district to the new school.
Bear Hill is scheduled to welcome its first students in August 2027 for the 2027-28 academic year.
The school will employ a combination of existing district personnel and newly hired staff members. The district intends to maintain a similar balance of experienced and newly hired employees across its six elementary schools.
Staffing preparations are underway, along with plans for transition activities intended to introduce families to the new school.
Potential activities include school tours, open houses, playground visits and opportunities for students and parents to meet teachers and administrators.
The School Board approved the Bear Hill name on March 24, 2025, following a community engagement process that included consultation with local historical organizations and first responders.
The district also plans to involve students and families in developing a mascot for the school.
The November redistricting decisions will establish the attendance framework for Bear Hill’s opening and determine how students are distributed among the district’s elementary schools.
