CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers traveling the Coatesville Downingtown Bypass this week should prepare for overnight delays as PennDOT crews continue milling and paving operations on westbound U.S. 30.

PennDOT said a lane closure will remain in place overnight on westbound U.S. 30 while crews continue roadway resurfacing work along the heavily traveled bypass corridor.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect backups and slower overnight travel, particularly near lane restriction areas. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, remain alert in work zones, and seek alternate routes when possible.
The paving work is part of a $9.3 million project designed to improve ride quality and extend the lifespan of the western section of the Coatesville Downingtown Bypass through the City of Coatesville and Caln, Sadsbury, Valley, and West Caln townships.
According to PennDOT, the project includes milling operations, base repairs, fresh bituminous overlay installation, replacement of edge-line rumble strips, and new pavement markings.
Allan Myers, Inc., based in Worcester, Pennsylvania, is serving as the project’s general contractor. The project is funded entirely through state dollars.
PennDOT noted that all scheduled construction activities are weather dependent and may be adjusted if conditions change.
