Gunfire Report in Middletown Leaves Police Searching for Answers

MIDDLETOWN, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a report of gunfire Tuesday night in Middletown after troopers found spent shell casings in a roadway.

According to state police, troopers were dispatched to the area of Marl Pit Road near Cedar Lane Road at approximately 10 p.m. Aug. 25 following a report of shots fired.

During the investigation, troopers located spent shell casings in the roadway, police reported. Authorities reported no injuries or property damage associated with the incident.

Detectives with the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist investigators to contact Detective J. Lucyk at 302-365-8446.

Information may also be provided through a private Facebook message to Delaware State Police or anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
