Local access will be maintained throughout the project, but motorists should expect delays near the work area and along the detour route. Plan extra time for travel and seek alternate routes when possible, especially during peak commuting periods.

The project will rehabilitate the 57-year-old bridge that carries Swedesford Road over the Chester Valley Trail. PennDOT said crews will apply a latex modified concrete overlay, reseal deck joints, and make substructure repairs.

The bridge is 38 feet long, 49 feet wide, and carries more than 9,000 vehicles per day.

The repair is part of a $16.2 million PennDOT project to rehabilitate 14 bridges across Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Loftus Construction Inc. of King of Prussia is the general contractor.

Drivers traveling near the work zone should remain alert for detour signs, changing traffic patterns, and construction crews working near the roadway.
