Casino Theft Probe Leads to Chaotic Chase, Crash and Arrest

MORGANTOWN, PA — A 33-year-old man faces theft, receiving stolen property and fleeing police charges after Caernarvon Township Police allege he entered employee vehicles at Hollywood Casino before leading officers on a pursuit that ended with a crash into two properties.

Police identified the defendant as Terrance Watson, 33.

At approximately 1:18 a.m. Aug. 15, officers responded to Hollywood Casino at 6021 Morgantown Road in Caernarvon Township, Berks County, for a report of someone entering vehicles, according to police.

Casino staff reported that two employee vehicles had allegedly been entered and several belongings were missing, including two wallets, $100, a gym bag and a basketball.

Police reported that officers located a silver sedan believed to be connected to the incident as it was leaving the area. Investigators allege the driver failed to stop, prompting a police pursuit.

The sedan eventually crashed into two properties in the 3100 block of Main Street, according to police. Watson allegedly fled the crash scene on foot.

During the investigation, authorities determined that the silver sedan had been reported stolen in Philadelphia, police reported.

Officers later received a report from a member of the public about a suspicious person near Twin Valley and Elverson roads. Caernarvon Township officers, assisted by officers from the Robeson and Exeter police departments, subsequently located Watson and took him into custody, according to police.

Watson was charged with receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, evading arrest and disorderly conduct.

He also faces charges involving accidents with attended vehicles or property, reckless driving, careless driving, duty to provide information, driving without a license and fleeing or attempting to elude police.

Watson was arraigned Aug. 15, with bail set at $75,000, according to police.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
