WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Drivers traveling between I-476 and I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) should prepare for overnight detours next weekend as PennDOT closes two heavily used interchange ramps for milling and paving in West Conshohocken Borough and Lower Merion Township.

The ramp from northbound I-476 to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will close from 10:00 PM Friday until 5:00 AM Saturday and again from 10:00 PM Saturday until 5:00 AM Sunday.
During the same overnight periods, the ramp from westbound I-76 to southbound I-476 will also be closed.
Drivers affected by either ramp closure will be directed to follow posted detour routes. PennDOT did not specify the individual roads that will make up those detours.
The weekend closures come as drivers continue to encounter weeknight restrictions elsewhere on I-476. Lane closures are scheduled from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM through early September on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges in Montgomery and Delaware counties.
Motorists should expect backups and delays around the work zones and plan extra time, particularly when traveling between I-476 and the Schuylkill Expressway during the overnight hours.
The restrictions are part of a $63.7 million PennDOT project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of I-476, along with associated ramps and bridges in Delaware and Montgomery counties.
Crews will mill and overlay travel lanes and shoulders in both directions and repair 49 structures. The project also includes improvements to 21 stormwater management basins, rock slope stabilization, sound wall repairs, drainage work and installation of new pavement markings, delineators, rumble strips, signs and guiderail.
H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor for the project, which is financed entirely with federal funds.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent and may be postponed or rescheduled.
