Toddler’s Injuries Spark Abuse Probe, Warrant Issued

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Police have issued an arrest warrant for a Maryland man accused of abusing a 23-month-old child following an investigation that began earlier this year.

According to Kennett Square police, the case originated on February 10 when officers received a ChildLine report from a mandated reporter who observed suspected burns on the child’s back.

Police reported that with assistance from Chester County Children, Youth, and Families, the child was removed from a home in the 400 block of South Broad Street and placed with a family member.

According to investigators, the child was evaluated at a medical facility, where numerous injuries were identified across the child’s body.

Authorities said the investigation determined that Paul Macatee IV, 22, of Northeast, Maryland, allegedly had exclusive custody of the child at the time the injuries occurred.

Police described Macatee as a white male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and 155 pounds, with orange hair and blue eyes.

Police stated that an arrest warrant was issued for Macatee on April 27 in connection with the case.

According to investigators, Macatee is charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, and additional counts of aggravated assault involving a victim under the age of 13 and under the age of 6.

The warrant remains active under docket number MJ-15304-CR-0000093-2026.

Authorities urged anyone who suspects child abuse or neglect to report it. Reports can be made by calling the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) or Pennsylvania ChildLine at 1-800-932-0313.

Police also ask anyone with information on Macatee’s whereabouts to contact the Kennett Square Police Department at 610-444-0501.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
