Three Men Accused in Wilmington Drug Bust

WILMINGTON, DE — Three men are accused of drug-related offenses following an investigation in Wilmington, according to city police.

Wilmington Police reported that members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the area of West 8th and North Monroe streets around 12:52 p.m. April 14 when they observed three individuals allegedly engaged in drug-related activity.

According to investigators, officers made contact with Kwahlik Hopkins-Bey, 20, Markivis Jenkins, 26, and Kawon Spencer-Taylor, 28, and took all three into custody without incident.

Police reported that officers recovered approximately 25.9 grams of crack cocaine, 0.15 grams of heroin, one dose of oxycodone, one dose of alprazolam, approximately 2.5 ounces of promethazine, and $1,722.00 in U.S. currency.

According to police, Hopkins-Bey is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and conspiracy in the second degree. Authorities stated he was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $38,000 secured bail.

Police stated he was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $38,200 cash-only bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
