WILMINGTON, DE — In the early hours of October 13, Wilmington Police executed a vehicle stop that resulted in the arrest of Daunte Williams, 21, on gun-related charges. Officers from the Uniformed Services Division conducted the stop at approximately 1:25 a.m. in the 100 block of North Adams Street, where they encountered Williams as a rear passenger in the vehicle.
During the interaction, Williams was observed in possession of a firearm. Subsequently, he was taken into custody without any reported incident. Upon further inspection, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, which, according to police records, had been previously reported as stolen.
Williams now faces multiple charges, including three counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited and Receiving a Stolen Firearm. Following his arrest, he was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. Pending further legal proceedings, Williams has been committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
It is important to note that these charges are currently allegations, and Williams is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case continues to be under investigation as authorities work to fully ascertain the details surrounding the incident.
