WEST CHESTER, PA — Closets are about to get a cleanout boost—and local cheerleaders are turning those donations into a powerful way to support their team.
The West Chester East Cheerleaders are inviting the community to take part in their annual clothing drive, a long-running fundraiser that helps cover team expenses, including travel to national competitions like UCA Nationals in Orlando, where the team recently placed seventh in its division.
Now in its 11th year under Head Coach Leslie Boccio, the drive has become a community tradition, with athletes volunteering their time to collect, sort, and load donations into a box truck—with one goal in mind: fill it to the top.
Turning Donations Into Opportunity
Every bag dropped off helps the team move closer to its fundraising goal. Donations are weighed, and the team receives funds based on the total—typically raising around $800 to support uniforms, travel, and competition costs.
More than just a fundraiser, the event gives cheerleaders a hands-on way to engage with the community while working together toward a shared goal.
What You Can Donate
The drive accepts a wide range of gently used items, including:
- Clothing: Men’s, women’s, and children’s items
- Shoes: All styles, paired or unpaired
- Bags: Handbags, backpacks, purses, and briefcases
- Accessories: Hats, scarves, belts, ties, coats, gloves, and outerwear
- Household Items: Curtains, towels, tablecloths, sheets, and pillowcases
- Toys: Bikes, small toys (under 2 feet tall), skateboards, and stuffed animals
- Miscellaneous: Luggage, strollers, and handicap equipment
Organizers encourage residents to gather unused items from around the house and bring them out during the drop-off weekend.
