WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to 27 incidents throughout the borough on Tuesday, including thefts, disorderly conduct, roadway hazards, and numerous traffic violations, according to authorities.
According to the Wyomissing Police Department, at 1:22 a.m., officers conducting a welfare check on State Hill Road encountered a woman walking in traffic. Police reported she told officers she had lost contact with a friend who was supposed to drive her home and did not have money for transportation. Officers provided a courtesy ride.
Police said traffic enforcement began shortly after, with a stop at 1:40 a.m. on 8th Avenue near Penn Avenue for a lane violation, resulting in a citation. At 2:20 a.m., another stop on Park Road North near North Wyomissing Boulevard led to a citation after officers reported the driver had no insurance.
In the afternoon, at 2:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to Route 422 near Route 12 for debris in the roadway. Police reported wood debris was removed, though one vehicle was damaged. At 2:55 p.m., officers observed a malfunctioning traffic signal on Penn Avenue near Clayton Avenue and notified a utility provider.
At 2:54 p.m., police responded to a 911 hang-up call on Wyomissing Court and determined a child had been playing with a phone. At 3:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to Wyoming Avenue near Cleveland Avenue for downed wires reported by a phone company representative.
Police reported multiple theft-related incidents during the afternoon. At 3:25 p.m., officers responded to Woodland Road for a retail theft involving more than $360 in merchandise. At 3:33 p.m., a theft was reported on Clayton Avenue involving an item valued at $60. At 4:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to Park Road North for missing packages totaling $119.66.
At 4:52 p.m., officers responded to Flannery Field Way for a verbal altercation among students. Police said one party left the scene and parents were advised to contact the school. At 6:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to Penn Avenue for another reported verbal dispute.
Police also handled several 911 hang-up calls. At 5:05 p.m., officers attempted to locate a caller from a moving vehicle near Route 222 and State Hill Road but were unsuccessful. At 7:11 p.m., officers responded to Woodland Road, where a business manager reported no known emergency.
At 7:33 p.m., officers took a report of vehicle damage on Flannery Field Way, which remains under investigation. At 8:04 p.m., police responded to Berkshire Boulevard for an animal-related call and transported the animal to the station.
Evening enforcement included multiple traffic stops. At 9:11 p.m., a driver was cited on Hobart Avenue near State Hill Road for failing to stop at a sign and failing to maintain a lane. At 9:24 p.m., a driver was warned on Papermill Road near Berkshire Boulevard for operating without headlights. At 9:36 p.m., another driver was warned on State Hill Road near Penn Avenue for failing to maintain a lane.
At 9:50 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Hill Avenue near Park Road North and reported recovering controlled substances, which were seized for destruction, resulting in a citation. At 10:39 p.m., officers checked a report of suspicious individuals on Meadow Lane but found no one at the scene.
Late-night activity continued with traffic enforcement. At 11:01 p.m., a driver was warned on Penn Avenue near Berks Place for window tint violations. At 11:23 p.m., a driver was cited on Route 222 near Penn Avenue for traveling 76 mph in a 55 mph zone. At 11:27 p.m., a driver was warned on Penn Avenue near 8th Avenue for a lighting violation.
Police reported additional stops at 11:28 p.m. on Penn Avenue near Route 222 and 11:40 p.m. on 8th Avenue near Penn Avenue for equipment violations, both resulting in warnings. At 11:48 p.m., a driver was cited on Park Road North near Hill Avenue after stopping in the roadway with hazard lights activated.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
