AVONDALE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police reported multiple incidents across southern Chester County between Tuesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 27, including a retail theft arrest, a child abuse investigation, a reported shooting-related incident, and a domestic dispute involving a juvenile.
According to state police, the earliest incident occurred Tuesday, March 25, at approximately 10:08 a.m. in Elk Township. Troopers later responded around 11:33 a.m. to the intersection of Chrome and State Road after a passerby reported hearing a gunshot and then discovering their vehicle’s rear window had been shattered. Police said the incident is being investigated as criminal mischief involving damage under $1,000. The victim was identified as a 62-year-old woman from North East, Maryland.
Later that day, at approximately 4:15 p.m., troopers were dispatched to Creekside Drive in Penn Township for a reported domestic dispute. According to investigators, a physical altercation allegedly occurred between a 46-year-old man and a 14-year-old female. Police said charges are pending as the investigation continues.
On Wednesday, March 26, at approximately 1:11 p.m., state police received a ChildLine report regarding suspected child abuse in Pennsbury Township. Authorities said the case involves a 15-year-old female and remains under active investigation by the Avondale Criminal Investigation Unit.
On Thursday, March 27, troopers responded at approximately 11:42 a.m. to Walmart at 800 Commons Drive in Lower Oxford Township for a reported retail theft. According to police, store personnel reported that a man and a woman allegedly exited the store without paying for merchandise.
Investigators identified the individuals as 41-year-old Justin Burchett and 43-year-old Patricia Langan, both of Elkton, Maryland. Police said the items reportedly taken included porch lighting valued at $1,400 and LEGO products valued at $100. Authorities also noted a 2005 Ford vehicle was involved in the incident.
State police said the investigation into all incidents remains ongoing.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
