KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Consolidated School District introduced a real-time school bus tracking system this week, giving families access to vehicle locations, route schedules and automated arrival notifications as part of a districtwide upgrade to transportation communications.
The district said its new Stopfinder service is available at no cost to parents and guardians, allowing them to monitor their children’s buses through a mobile application.
The system displays bus locations on an interactive map and provides access to transportation schedules and routes. Families can also configure notifications to track when buses approach, arrive at or depart from designated locations.
A feature called GeoAlerts allows users to establish location-based notifications for places such as school buildings and assigned bus stops.
The service is intended to give families more timely information about bus movements, particularly when transportation schedules change or delays occur.
Stopfinder also allows parents to manage transportation information for multiple children through a single account and share bus schedules with other family members or caregivers.
The district began distributing registration invitations Monday, October 26, to the primary email addresses listed in families’ Skyward Family Access accounts.
Each invitation includes registration information for the family’s children. Recipients must follow the emailed instructions to activate their accounts and establish passwords.
After registration, families can download Stopfinder through the Apple App Store or Google Play, select a preferred language and configure transportation alerts.
The district’s rollout adds real-time vehicle tracking to the information available to families, supplementing conventional bus schedules with notifications tied to actual bus locations.
Families who have not yet registered should check the email account associated with their Skyward Family Access profile for the district’s invitation.
