NEWARK, DE — Detectives with the New Castle County Division of Police arrested two Newark residents Tuesday following an investigation into alleged drug-dealing activity in Newark and surrounding communities.
According to the New Castle County Division of Police Violent Crime Interdiction Team, detectives executed multiple search warrants with assistance from Delaware Probation and Parole at properties connected to Brian Flagg, 48, of Newark.
Investigators said officers searched a residence in the unit block of Granville Lane, where detectives allegedly recovered approximately 65 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 9 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
Police also executed a search warrant at a residence in the unit block of Hobart Drive, according to investigators.
During that search, detectives encountered Devyn Brohawn, 36, of Newark. Authorities alleged Brohawn was found in possession of handgun ammunition and was prohibited from possessing ammunition because of a prior conviction.
According to investigators, detectives also recovered property belonging to a Middletown business. Police said information related to that matter was forwarded to the agency handling that investigation.
Flagg was charged with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance under Tier 3, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance under Tier 1, and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Authorities said Flagg was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $52,100 cash bail.
Brohawn was charged with possession of ammunition by a person prohibited and resisting arrest, according to investigators.
Police said Brohawn was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to post $5,500 cash bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
