WILMINGTON, DE — Three men have been charged with attempted murder and related offenses following an investigation into an April shooting that left a teenager and an adult critically injured, according to Wilmington police.
Officers responded at approximately 6:15 p.m. April 4 to the area of East 24th and Lamotte streets after receiving a report of gunfire, police said.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers found a 16-year-old boy and a 25-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Michael Chambers of the Criminal Investigations Division. Police said the investigation identified Hamire Howard, 21, Davonte Talbert, 18, and Malikye Boyer, 20, as suspects, and arrest warrants were obtained.
Maryland State Police located Howard on April 29 and took him into custody without incident, according to Wilmington police. Talbert was arrested May 9 in Edgemoor by the Safe Streets Task Force.
Police reported that members of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force located Boyer in Newark on Aug. 4 and took him into custody without incident.
Howard was charged with two counts each of first-degree attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He also faces four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, as well as first-degree conspiracy and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
According to police, Howard was arraigned in New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1.214 million cash-only bail.
Talbert was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree conspiracy. Police said he was arraigned in New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $603,000 cash-only bail.
Boyer faces two counts each of first-degree attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was also charged with four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, first-degree conspiracy and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Police said Boyer was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $250,000 cash-only bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
