NEWARK, DE — Detectives are investigating a shooting at the Taylortown Shopping Center that left a 40-year-old man hospitalized Monday evening.
According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers responded at approximately 6:52 p.m. Aug. 3 to the shopping center after receiving multiple reports of shots fired.
Police said officers found a 40-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. Officers rendered emergency aid by applying a tourniquet until emergency medical personnel arrived, according to the department.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and listed in stable condition, police reported.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the scene and are leading the investigation.
