KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A Kennett Square man has turned himself in on an arrest warrant connected to allegations that he attempted to purchase firearms despite being prohibited from doing so, police said.

According to the Kennett Square Police Department, Devon Moses-Johnson, 29, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday, July 1. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled.

Police said the arrest warrant was issued May 21 in connection with an investigation that began on May 5, when the Pennsylvania State Police Investigation Unit contacted Kennett Square officers regarding an individual who had allegedly attempted to acquire firearms through a licensed firearms dealer in Kennett Square Borough.

According to investigators, the firearms dealer conducted a background check through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System, commonly known as PICS. Information obtained during the check allegedly indicated that Moses-Johnson was prohibited from acquiring a firearm.

Police said charges were subsequently filed in District Court 15-3-04 in connection with the incident.

Court records did not immediately indicate the specific charges filed against Moses-Johnson.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
