EAST LANSDOWNE, PA — A Delaware County woman is facing charges after police said she left the scene of a hit-and-run crash in East Lansdowne.

According to the East Lansdowne Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 10:58 a.m. July 1 to Baltimore Avenue and Penn Boulevard for a report of a hit-and-run crash.

Police said the reporting party told officers their vehicle had been struck head-on by another vehicle, which then fled north on Penn Boulevard.

Moments later, Officer Justin Bates observed a vehicle with heavy front-end damage traveling at an unsafe speed and failing to stop at a posted stop sign at Wildwood and Emerson avenues, according to police.

Investigators said the driver, identified as Shianna Carter, 32, was determined to be the operator of the vehicle involved in the earlier crash.

A review of East Lansdowne Community Safety Cameras allegedly showed Carter operating a Nissan Altima eastbound on Baltimore Avenue before making a sharp turn north onto Penn Boulevard, entering the southbound lane and striking the victim’s vehicle, police said.

Authorities alleged Carter then left the area without stopping, rendering aid or providing information.

Carter was charged with accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, suspended vehicle registration, driving at a safe speed, required vehicle insurance, and duties at a stop sign. A 20-day summons was filed with Magisterial District Court 32-2-51.
