EAST LANSDOWNE, PA — A 28-year-old man is facing multiple charges after an early-morning traffic stop in East Lansdowne allegedly escalated into a confrontation with police on July 4.
According to the East Lansdowne Police Department, an officer observed a black sedan traveling eastbound in the 400 block of East Baltimore Avenue at approximately 4:16 a.m. without its headlights or taillights activated and at what police described as an unusually slow speed.
Police identified the driver as Amir Marshall-Johnson, 28. According to investigators, officers determined that Marshall-Johnson’s driver’s license was suspended and that the vehicle allegedly had invalid registration and inspection credentials and was uninsured.
Police reported that after officers issued traffic citations, Marshall-Johnson allegedly became verbally and physically combative. Authorities stated that after he later calmed down, officers allowed him to leave the scene in an Uber.
According to police, Marshall-Johnson allegedly exited the rideshare vehicle while it was leaving the area and again became verbally and physically combative with officers. Investigators said officers made multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation before using a TASER energy device to subdue him and take him into custody.
Marshall-Johnson was arrested July 4 and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, terroristic threats, public drunkenness, driving while operating a suspended or revoked license, and obstructing the administration of law or other governmental function.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
