Delaware Man Arrested in Kennett Square on Fugitive Charge

Arrested

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A Delaware man was taken into custody Friday evening in Kennett Square after police said a traffic stop led officers to discover an out-of-state arrest warrant.

According to the Kennett Square Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop at about 8:11 p.m. June 27 in the 200 block of South Union Street after observing a 2015 black Honda displaying a Delaware registration that had expired in March.

Police identified the driver as Alex Njeru, 29, of Newark, Delaware.

During the investigation, officers determined that the vehicle allegedly did not have valid insurance coverage and that Njeru’s driver’s license was suspended, according to police.

Authorities further reported that Njeru had an active arrest warrant issued by the Maryland State Police Northeast Barracks. Police said he was taken into custody and charged as a fugitive from justice.

According to police, a criminal complaint was completed before Njeru was transported to the Chester County Prison for central booking.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
