WILMINGTON, DE — A 31-year-old man faces attempted murder and firearms charges in connection with a 2024 Wilmington shooting that left a 49-year-old man wounded, according to police.
Wilmington Police reported that officers responded at approximately 8:40 p.m. Sept. 19, 2024, to the 1500 block of West 4th Street for a reported shooting.
Officers located a 49-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The case was assigned to Detective John O’Connor of the Wilmington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. During the investigation, police allege O’Connor identified Rahmir Brayboy, 31, as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
Brayboy was subsequently incarcerated in Pennsylvania on an unrelated matter, according to police. Following his release Aug. 12, he was extradited to Delaware in connection with the Wilmington case.
Police charged Brayboy with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree reckless endangering, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and criminal mischief under $1,000.
Brayboy was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $908,100 cash-only bail, police reported.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
