HARRISBURG, PA — East Vincent and West Vincent Townships in Chester County have been awarded state grants totaling over $40,000. Announced by State Representatives Kristine Howard and Paul Friel, the funding is part of an $80 million statewide initiative by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency aimed at improving crime reporting and law enforcement capabilities.

East Vincent Township will receive $6,500, while West Vincent Township has been allocated $33,528. These grants are earmarked for upgrading local law enforcement technology, ensuring compliance with the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). As of January 2021, NIBRS has been the national standard for crime data reporting, providing detailed insights into criminal incidents, including victim and offender information.

Rep. Howard emphasized the crucial role of these funds, stating, “Protecting our communities is paramount.” Rep. Friel added, “These improvements will keep our community safer while helping police on the ground.”

Additionally, the commission has approved $60 million in federal grants to support victim service providers, reinforcing financial support for organizations assisting crime victims across Pennsylvania. This comprehensive funding approach aims to foster safer communities through advanced law enforcement tools and enhanced victim support services.
