Trespassing Call Leads to Gun and Drug Arrest in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man was taken into custody following a trespassing investigation that led to the recovery of a firearm and suspected drugs early Wednesday morning, according to city police.

Police reported officers with the Uniformed Services Division responded around 5:57 a.m. April 16 to the 800 block of Maryland Avenue for a trespassing complaint.

According to investigators, officers searched a vacant property and located a man identified as 25-year-old Antoine Davis. Police said Davis was taken into custody after he allegedly resisted arrest.

Authorities reported officers recovered approximately 2 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 0.45 grams of suspected heroin or fentanyl, a loaded 9mm handgun, and $313 in cash.

Davis has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, resisting arrest, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and third-degree criminal trespass, according to police.

Police said Davis was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $72,500 cash-only bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
