MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Motorists traveling on U.S. 422 should prepare for overnight lane closures and traffic slowdowns this week as crews mill and repave sections of the highway in Limerick and Upper Providence townships, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

PennDOT said westbound U.S. 422 will be reduced to a single lane nightly from Sunday, July 26, through Friday, July 31, while crews perform milling and paving operations. Eastbound traffic will also face nightly lane closures from Monday, July 27, through Thursday, July 30, as milling work continues.
Drivers should plan extra time when traveling through the work zone because backups and delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes whenever possible during the overnight construction periods.
No detour was announced. All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions are unfavorable.
The overnight restrictions are part of a $6.2 million state-funded project to resurface and repair a 4.4-mile section of U.S. 422. In addition to paving, crews will perform base repairs, install a new bituminous overlay, reapply pavement markings and reinstall edge-line rumble strips to improve the roadway’s long-term condition.
