The overnight restrictions will reduce northbound I-95 by one lane during the evening and two lanes after midnight. PennDOT warns that backups and delays will occur, particularly during the double lane closures.

The work is part of a $261.5 million project to rehabilitate the 5,183-foot, double-deck Girard Point Bridge and nine approach structures. Improvements include bridge deck repairs, barrier replacements, steel rehabilitation, drainage and lighting upgrades, and structural protection for the bridge’s pier in the Schuylkill River.

South State Inc. of Bridgeton, New Jersey, is the general contractor. The project is funded through a combination of federal and state funds.
