LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — Motorists traveling U.S. 422 through Montgomery and Chester counties should prepare for significant delays next weekend as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) shifts westbound traffic onto newly reconstructed lanes between the Sanatoga and Hanover Street interchanges.

- Roads Affected: U.S. 422 Eastbound and Westbound, between Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street.
- Dates: Friday, November 6, through Saturday, November 7, 2026.
- Times: 7:00 PM Friday–7:00 PM Saturday.
- Reason: Traffic shift to newly reconstructed westbound lanes.
Lane closures will affect both directions of U.S. 422 during the 24-hour operation in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, and North Coventry Township, Chester County.
The shift will move westbound vehicles onto newly completed pavement, allowing crews to begin reconstructing the middle section of the expressway. Eastbound traffic will remain in its current configuration.
The operation marks the beginning of the final construction stage of PennDOT’s $83.6 million project to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of U.S. 422 and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.
PennDOT warns that backups and delays will occur. Drivers should plan extra travel time or consider alternate routes. The schedule is weather dependent.
