HORSHAM, PA — Stryten Energy LLC has agreed to acquire C&D Technologies Inc. and Trojan Battery Company LLC, expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint and broadening its energy storage portfolio as demand grows across transportation, industrial and critical infrastructure markets.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Upon completion, Stryten will operate 15 battery manufacturing and component facilities across the United States and employ approximately 3,700 people. The combined company also will have manufacturing operations in Mexico and China and offices throughout Europe and Asia.
The acquisition expands Stryten’s portfolio of lead- and lithium-based batteries serving automotive, commercial transportation, industrial equipment, utilities, telecommunications, data centers and military applications.
The company stated it also plans to increase production capacity for absorbent glass mat (AGM) batteries, which are used in hybrid and start-stop vehicles as well as backup power systems for data centers and telecommunications infrastructure.
“This combination brings together two highly complementary organizations with a shared commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance energy storage solutions,” Stryten Chief Executive Officer and President Mike Judd said.
Judd added that the combined business would accelerate product development, expand manufacturing capacity and strengthen the company’s ability to serve transportation, industrial, essential power, military and government customers.
C&D Trojan President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Heller said the combination broadens the companies’ product offerings and manufacturing capabilities while strengthening support for customers’ energy storage needs.
According to Stryten, the larger domestic manufacturing network is expected to strengthen its vertically integrated supply chain and expand its ability to support U.S. defense programs and other mission-critical infrastructure requiring domestically produced battery systems.
Stryten is a portfolio company of Atlas Holdings LLC, while C&D Trojan is owned by KPS Capital Partners LP.
