BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that overnight paving operations will take place next week on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships as part of a large-scale reconstruction project.
From Sunday, July 27, through Friday, August 1, lane closures will be in effect in both directions of U.S. 1 between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange. Work will occur nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to plan for additional travel time. All work is weather dependent.
The paving is a component of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 project, a $116 million effort to reconstruct and widen a three-mile stretch of the highway. The project spans from just south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to just north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange and is designed to improve traffic capacity, safety, and long-term roadway performance.
