LANCASTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers traveling southbound on Route 222 this weekend should prepare for delays as PennDOT schedules bridge repairs over Cocalico Creek at the Warwick-West Earl township line. A lane restriction will remain in place for much of Saturday while crews complete the work.

- Reason: Bridge dam repairs
PennDOT said the contractor will repair bridge dams on the southbound Route 222 bridge over Cocalico Creek between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Weather permitting, one lane will be closed during the work, and motorists should expect slower travel through the area.
No detour is planned, but the lane restriction is expected to cause backups throughout the day. Drivers should plan extra travel time, remain alert for changing traffic patterns, and consider adjusting their travel schedules if possible.
The bridge repairs are part of a larger 3.3-mile pavement preservation project on Route 222 through Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships. The project includes resurfacing, milling, base repairs, concrete patching, guide rail improvements, line painting, and sign upgrades between the Bushong Road and Pool Road overhead bridges.
While most of the project has been completed, PennDOT said additional lane closures may still be needed to finish remaining work near the Route 772 (Brownstown/Rothsville) interchange.
Motorists are reminded to slow down, obey work zone signage, and use caution to help protect both highway workers and fellow travelers.
