New Roadwork Could Slow Drivers Across Three PA Counties

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Drivers in Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery counties should prepare for daytime lane closures and rolling slowdowns beginning next week as PennDOT launches high-friction resurfacing work on several busy state highways.

PennDOT said motorists can expect lane closures with flagging operations on multiple highways across the region as crews apply High-Friction Surface Treatment (HFST), a specialized pavement coating designed to improve traction and vehicle grip in both wet and dry conditions.

The work schedule includes:

  • King of Prussia Road between Eagle Road and Woodcrest Road in Radnor Township, Delaware County, from Saturday, May 30, through Saturday, June 6.
  • Springfield Road between Highland Road and Britton Road in Springfield Township, Delaware County, from Monday, June 1, through Monday, June 8.
  • Glen Riddle Road between Brandywine Drive and Springhouse Lane in Middletown Township, Delaware County, from Tuesday, June 2, through Tuesday, June 9.
  • Route 313 (Broad Street) between Penrose Street and Franklin Street in Quakertown Borough, Bucks County, from Thursday, June 4, through Thursday, June 11.
  • Route 113 (Bridge Road) between Heckler Road and Susquehanna Drive in Skippack Township, Montgomery County, from Friday, June 5, through Friday, June 12.

PennDOT said motorists should expect backups and intermittent delays while crews conduct resurfacing activities. Plan extra time, reduce speeds near flagging operations, and seek alternate routes if possible during daytime travel hours.

The resurfacing work is part of a $2.7 million federally funded project covering highways across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
