CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers on eastbound U.S. 30 (Exton Bypass) should prepare for six nights of alternating lane closures beginning Sunday, September 13, as crews mill and pave a section of the highway in West Whiteland and East Caln townships.

Alternating lanes will close nightly between the U.S. 322 and Route 113 interchanges. No detour is planned, but traffic will be reduced through the work zone.
PennDOT advises motorists to plan extra time because backups and delays are expected. All scheduled work depends on weather conditions.
The restrictions are part of a $6.8 million project designed to permanently address sinkholes at two locations on the Exton Bypass between Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and Clover Mill Road. The project is federally financed, while the recently added paving work is funded with state dollars.
Crews are drilling holes through the pavement in a grid pattern and injecting pressurized grout into underground voids. The process is intended to stabilize the ground beneath the highway and reduce the risk of future sinkholes.
Additional work includes pavement reconstruction, drainage pipe replacement, and stabilization of roadside swales. Road-Con, of West Chester, is the general contractor.
