JENKINTOWN, PA — National Philanthropic Trust (NPT announced it granted $4.64 billion to qualified charitable organizations in the U.S. and 57 other countries on behalf of its donors in Fiscal Year 2023 (July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023). NPT donors recommended a historic 107,464 grants to over 36,000 charitable organizations in the latest completed fiscal year.

Fiscal Year 2018 to Fiscal Year 2023, the total value of NPT grants to charitable organizations increased 362% from $1.01 billion to $4.46 billion, the number of grants increased 162% from 41,025 to 107,464, and the number of charities receiving grants increased 118% from 16,746 to 36,535.

“The data highlights how actively and reliably our DAF donors are supporting charitable organizations during global economic uncertainty,” said Eileen Heisman, CEO of National Philanthropic Trust. “During the Great Recession and the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, DAF grantmaking grew at historic rates. Now, charities are facing the impact that inflation and high interest rates are having on their operating budgets and missions. Consistent unrestricted giving, the most common grants that DAF donors recommend, helps charities to further their respective missions in the U.S. and around the world.”

Heisman continued, “NPT’s total dollar value of international grantmaking increased 6% in Fiscal Year 2023. These grants provide more mission-critical funding for charitable organizations to address critical humanitarian needs globally. NPT donors are engaged philanthropists and often quickly recommend grants in response to natural disasters or other pressing needs.”
