PennDOT said overnight and weekend lane closures will continue through June on northbound Route 222 approaching the Route 772 (Newport Road) interchange in West Earl Township as crews perform ramp upgrades and median improvements.
The Route 772 on-ramp to northbound Route 222 will close continuously from 8:00 PM Thursday, May 28, through 8:00 PM Sunday, May 31.
During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Route 772 (Newport Road), Route 222, Route 272, Jake Landis Road, and Pinetown Road to reconnect with northbound Route 222.
Following the reopening of the on-ramp, an 11-foot width restriction will remain in place from June 1 through June 28.
PennDOT also said the northbound Route 222 off-ramp to Route 772 will remain closed from May 28 through June 28. Drivers exiting northbound Route 222 will be detoured using Route 222 and Route 322.
Most major roadway work tied to the 3.3-mile pavement preservation project has already been completed, but PennDOT said additional lane and ramp closures are necessary to finish remaining construction activities.
The broader project stretches through Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships and includes resurfacing, milling, base repair, concrete patching, guiderail improvements, pavement markings, and sign updates.
Drivers traveling through the corridor should expect delays, especially during overnight hours and weekends. Plan extra time, remain alert near work crews, and seek alternate routes where possible.
