PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers in Northeast Philadelphia should prepare for daytime lane restrictions on four local streets next week as overhead bridge construction continues along Interstate 95. Plan extra time, expect delays and be prepared for intermittent traffic stops.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: Venango Street, Castor Avenue, Richmond Street and Wheatsheaf Lane
- Dates: Tuesday, July 21, through Friday, July 24
- Times: 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Reason: Overhead bridge construction
Periodic lane closures with flagging may occur at several Interstate 95 overpass locations during daytime construction.
The affected areas include Venango Street between Bath Street and East Allen Street; Castor Avenue between Richmond Street and the northbound I-95 on-ramp; Richmond Street between Wheatsheaf Lane and East Butler Street; and Wheatsheaf Lane between Richmond Street and East Thompson Street.
No detours have been announced. Motorists should slow down near flagging operations, expect intermittent delays and seek alternate routes when practical.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $311 million I-95/AF3 project, which will reconstruct and widen a 1.3-mile section of Interstate 95 in both directions between Tioga Street and Wheatsheaf Lane.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions warrant.
