Drummond Expands MedTech Manufacturing With Accu-Glass Deal

Drummond Scientific Company

BROOMALL, PA — Drummond Scientific Company acquired St. Louis-based Accu-Glass, LLC, expanding its manufacturing footprint and deepening its position in the medical diagnostics supply chain as demand grows for precision components used in life sciences and clinical testing.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Drummond said Accu-Glass will continue operating as a wholly owned subsidiary from its current Missouri facility, with all employees retained following the acquisition.

The deal adds Accu-Glass’s high-precision glass capillary manufacturing capabilities to Drummond’s existing portfolio of medical technology, diagnostic, and sample collection products.

The acquisition also marks a broader expansion strategy for Drummond, which said it intends to build a larger network of specialized manufacturing businesses serving the MedTech and life sciences industries.

“This is a defining moment for Drummond, both in terms of what it delivers today and what it represents for our future,” President and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Strohsahl said in a statement. “Accu-Glass strengthens our foundation in glass capillaries while pointing toward something broader: expanding our investments and serving our customers more completely.”

Glass capillaries are used in a range of diagnostic and clinical applications, including laboratory testing and medical sampling technologies.

Drummond said combining the companies’ manufacturing and automation expertise would support development of higher-throughput and custom automated production systems for medical and diagnostic customers.

Accu-Glass President Matthew Moore said the companies have worked both competitively and collaboratively with shared MedTech customers for decades.

“We have spent decades refining what it takes to produce precision glass at scale,” Moore said. “Drummond understands that work and what it demands.”

The transaction moves Drummond beyond what the company described as a single-site operating structure and into a multi-business manufacturing platform focused on medical and diagnostic supply infrastructure.

The company said it plans to continue evaluating additional acquisition opportunities aimed at expanding its capabilities across the life sciences and MedTech sectors.
