Cecil College Students Earn All-Maryland Academic Team Honors

NORTH EAST, MD — Three Cecil College students were named to the 2026 All-Maryland Academic Team and recognized Wednesday during the annual Phi Theta Kappa All-Maryland Academic Team Recognition Dinner at the Turf Valley Resort Conference Center in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Taylor N. DiPietro, Crystal Noellyn Kalbaugh, and Lillian Lafica Mae Tyler were selected for the statewide academic honor, which recognizes high-achieving students enrolled at Maryland community colleges. The All-Maryland Academic Team is part of the broader All-USA Academic Team program administered through Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Students selected for the program must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA, complete a minimum of 36 semester credits, and remain actively enrolled in an associate degree program. The program also recognizes leadership and community service in addition to academic achievement.

Kalbaugh, a bioproduction student, was named to the First Team All-Maryland Academic Team and also earned recognition as a 2026 New Century Workforce Scholar. She currently works as a quality control supervisor at LaMotte’s Newark plant and has received honors recognition in bioproduction.

Tyler, a game design student, received Second Team honors. According to the college, she has been accepted to several four-year institutions, including George Mason University and University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Tyler also contributes as a teen tech writer and has earned placement on the President’s List and membership in the National Honor Society.

DiPietro, a chemical engineering student and fellow Second Team honoree, maintains a 4.0 GPA and serves as vice president of her Phi Theta Kappa chapter. She plans to transfer to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and pursue a career in product development engineering focused on medical devices and pharmaceutical technologies.

“These students represent the very best of Cecil College,” said Mary Way Bolt. “Their academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to service reflect the mission and values of our institution.”

The All-Maryland Academic Team program is supported by Maryland Community Colleges, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
