RADNOR, PA — Avantor (NYSE: AVTR) has appointed Gerard “Jerry” Porreca as executive vice president of quality and regulatory affairs, adding a veteran compliance executive as life sciences suppliers face increasing regulatory scrutiny across global markets.
Porreca will oversee quality assurance, quality systems, and regulatory affairs across the company’s worldwide operations, according to Avantor.
The appointment comes as manufacturers and suppliers serving the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, and advanced technology sectors navigate evolving regulatory requirements in major markets including the United States, Europe, and China.
Porreca joins Avantor from Getinge, where he led quality and regulatory functions and managed product approval and compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions.
Before joining Getinge, he held senior leadership roles at Becton Dickinson and Company, C.R. Bard, and Smith+Nephew.
Avantor President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Ligner said Porreca’s experience managing global quality systems and regulatory requirements will support the company’s operational growth efforts.
“Jerry’s deep expertise in global quality systems and complex regulatory landscapes will be vital as we continue to enhance and scale our operations,” Ligner said.
Porreca said quality and regulatory performance remain critical differentiators for companies serving life sciences and healthcare customers.
“In the life sciences and advanced technology sectors, quality and regulatory excellence are not just requirements—they are a key value proposition for our customers,” Porreca said.
Avantor supplies products and services used throughout the research, development, and manufacturing process for life sciences and advanced technology customers worldwide. The company said Porreca will be responsible for leading global quality and regulatory functions across all business segments.
