PHILADELPHIA, PA — Aramark Healthcare+ (NYSE: ARMK) has been named to Modern Healthcare’s 2026 Best Places to Work in Healthcare list for the third consecutive year, recognition that comes as healthcare service providers continue competing to recruit and retain frontline workers in a tight labor market.
The rankings, which evaluate workplace culture and employee engagement across the healthcare sector, will be finalized later this year.
The recognition applies to Aramark Healthcare+, the healthcare division of Aramark, which provides food, environmental services, facilities management, and related support services at more than 600 healthcare facilities across 47 states.
Workforce retention and employee development have become increasingly important operational issues for healthcare support-service providers as hospitals and health systems face persistent staffing challenges.
Aramark Healthcare+ employs more than 25,000 managed and direct workers nationwide. The company cited internal career development programs, leadership training, certification opportunities, and cross-functional mobility initiatives as key components of its workforce strategy.
One example highlighted by the company involved an environmental services training program at a Georgia healthcare account that linked advancement opportunities to professional certifications through the Association for the Health Care Environment.
According to Aramark, the initiative contributed to a 20-point increase in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems cleanliness percentile scores while supporting employee retention efforts.
The company also pointed to workforce development programs including its annual Aramark Culinary Excellence competition and national recognition opportunities for environmental services teams.
PJ Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Aramark Healthcare+, attributed the company’s retention efforts to management practices and career advancement opportunities.
“When people have clear expectations, access to development, and leaders who listen, it creates an environment where careers can grow and employees choose to stay,” Johnson said.
Modern Healthcare’s annual workplace rankings are based on employer assessments and employee survey data designed to measure organizational culture, leadership effectiveness, and workforce satisfaction across the healthcare industry.
Aramark operates food service and facilities management businesses across education, healthcare, sports, business, government, and hospitality markets in 16 countries.
