EAST FALLOWFIELD TWP, PA — Verizon Wireless is seeking township approval to construct a wireless communications tower on property owned by the Central Chester County Recycling Authority, with a Nov. 24 public hearing set to determine whether the proposed facility meets East Fallowfield Township’s zoning requirements.
Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, has applied for conditional-use approval to develop a tower-based wireless communications facility at 6 Ims Drive in the Coatesville area.
The proposed site encompasses approximately 1.07 acres and is identified in township records as Property ID 47-4-68.2.
The application falls under Section 27-1733 of the township’s zoning ordinance, which governs permitted locations for wireless communications facilities.
Verizon previously obtained certain zoning variances for the project. Township records indicate the Zoning Hearing Board considered the variance request Sept. 16.
The conditional-use application remains pending, and the prior variance relief does not constitute final authorization to construct the tower.
The Board of Supervisors must separately determine whether the proposal satisfies the applicable conditional-use standards before granting approval.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 6 p.m. at the East Fallowfield Township Building, 2264 Strasburg Road.
Supervisors will consider the application and receive evidence and public testimony before deciding whether to approve the project, impose conditions, deny the request or continue the proceedings.
The proposed facility would place wireless communications infrastructure on property currently owned by the regional recycling authority, making the conditional-use hearing a significant remaining step in the local approval process.
Copies of Verizon’s application are available for public inspection without charge at the township building. Copies may also be obtained for a fee not exceeding reproduction costs.
Residents requiring disability-related accommodations to attend or participate in the hearing may contact the township office at 610-384-7144.
