KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — AmeriGas, a subsidiary of UGI Corp. (NYSE: UGI), recently used a leadership event at its headquarters to promote the return of the Philadelphia Cycling Classic as businesses and civic organizations prepare for a series of major tourism and sporting events expected to draw global attention to the city in 2026.
Executives from AmeriGas, Visit Philadelphia, Philadelphia Soccer 2026, and Race Street Partners participated in a panel discussion focused on the economic and civic impact tied to the FIFA World Cup, the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations, and the revival of the professional cycling race after a 10-year absence.
The Philadelphia Cycling Classic, presented by AmeriGas, is scheduled to return August 30 and will feature professional men’s and women’s races on a course that includes the Manayunk Wall and Lemon Hill.
AmeriGas is serving as title sponsor of the race, a role organizers indicated helped support the event’s return and equal prize purses for both the men’s and women’s fields.
“For more than 140 years, UGI has been part of the fabric of this region,” UGI Chief Executive Officer Bob Flexon said during the event. “Philadelphia is at the center of something extraordinary this summer, and we are proud to be a part of it.”
The discussion included former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Visit Philadelphia President and Chief Executive Officer Angela Val, and Philadelphia Soccer 2026 Senior Director of Strategy, Operations and Partnerships Alison Grove.
AmeriGas also used the event to highlight internal operational initiatives, including the company’s move to return all customer service operations to the United States.
Michael Sharp, president of AmeriGas, linked the cycling sponsorship to broader employee engagement efforts underway across the company.
The company plans additional employee-focused events tied to the race, including volunteer programs, bike rides, nonprofit bike-building initiatives, and headquarters events leading up to race weekend.
