16-Year-Old Arrested in Wilmington with Loaded Handgun

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of a wanted juvenile male on gun charges.

The criminal complaint alleges that on April 21, at approximately 1:41 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the 2100 block of Lamotte Street, when they observed a wanted 16-year-old male juvenile. When officers attempted to make contact with the subject, he fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to take him into custody without incident and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.

The 16-year-old male juvenile was charged with the following offenses in addition to his active warrants:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $31,100 cash-only bail.
