HARRISBURG, PA —The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that all driver license and photo centers, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in observance of Christmas.

To ensure access to essential services during the holiday closure, PennDOT has directed customers to its online platform. Available 24/7, the website provides a range of options, including driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals, duplicate products, address changes, driver history services, and REAL ID pre-verification. Users can also schedule driving exams and access license or registration restoration documents. Notably, there are no additional fees for utilizing the online services.

PennDOT has also issued a reminder about the upcoming REAL ID requirement. Beginning May 7, 2025, travelers boarding domestic flights or entering federal facilities will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, identification card, or another federally-approved form of identification. With less than five months remaining to meet this federal mandate, PennDOT encourages residents to prepare early by visiting www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID for detailed instructions.

Those planning to visit On-Line Messenger Service Centers during the holiday period are encouraged to confirm their hours of operation in advance. For a comprehensive list of driver license center closures and holiday schedules, customers can refer to the PennDOT website.
