WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a recent announcement, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) revealed updated fees for telemarketers accessing the National Do Not Call (DNC) Registry for the fiscal year 2025, commencing on October 1, 2024. This update mandates that telemarketers must adhere to new pricing structures when downloading consumer phone numbers from the registry.

The FTC requires all telemarketers targeting U.S. consumers to download and consult the DNC Registry to prevent calls to registered individuals. While the first five area codes are available at no cost, telemarketers must pay for additional access. Some organizations, including specific charities and political entities, remain exempt and can obtain the full list for free.

For FY 2025, the cost for accessing a single area code will rise to $80, marking a $2 increase from the previous year. Additionally, the maximum charge for accessing all nationwide area codes is set at $22,038, up from $21,402 in FY 2024. Telemarketers will also face a $40 fee for accessing an additional area code for half the year, reflecting a $1 increment.

These adjustments aim to maintain consumer privacy while ensuring telemarketers comply with federal regulations. As these changes take effect, organizations are encouraged to review their practices and budgets to align with the updated requirements.
