WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Health Department will offer flu and COVID-19 vaccinations at community clinics across the county this fall, including recurring appointments in West Chester through Dec. 18, expanding access ahead of the respiratory-virus season.
All clinics will offer both vaccines. Walk-ins are permitted, while appointments can be scheduled at chesco.org/fallvaccines or by calling 610-344-6225.
Vaccines will be available at no cost to uninsured residents and without a copay for people with health insurance, according to the department.
The schedule broadens the county’s vaccine distribution across schools, libraries, churches, a food pantry and other community sites from late September through early November. The Government Services Center in West Chester will separately offer vaccinations on varying days and times from Sept. 14 through Dec. 18.
“We want every Chester County resident to have easy access to recommended vaccines,” Health Department Director Jeanne Franklin said. “Our community vaccination clinics make it convenient to get protected before respiratory virus season begins.”
The first scheduled community clinic will be held Sept. 24 from 3:15 to 6:45 p.m. at Great Valley Middle School, 225 N. Phoenixville Pike in Malvern.
Additional clinics are scheduled for:
- Oct. 5, 1 to 5:15 p.m., Coatesville Area Public Library, 501 Lincoln Highway E., Coatesville.
- Oct. 8, 3:15 to 6:45 p.m., Unionville High School, 740 Unionville Road, Kennett Square.
- Oct. 14, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Honey Brook Food Pantry, 5064 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook.
- Oct. 15, 3 to 6:45 p.m., Kennett Middle School, 195 Sunny Dell Road, Landenberg.
- Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Avon Grove Church of the Nazarene, 240 State Road, West Grove.
- Oct. 22, 4:15 to 6:45 p.m., Owen J. Roberts Middle School, 881 Ridge Road, Pottstown.
- Oct. 26, 3 to 6:45 p.m., Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester.
- Oct. 28, 4 to 5:30 p.m., Honey Brook Food Pantry, 5064 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook.
- Oct. 29, 3:15 to 5:45 p.m., Mighty Writers, 121 Willow Street, Toughkenamon.
- Nov. 5, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oxford Senior Center, 12 E. Locust Street, Oxford.
The Mighty Writers and Oxford Senior Center locations are identified by the Health Department as new clinic sites this year.
The Government Services Center at 601 Westtown Road will also host clinics from Sept. 14 through Dec. 18, with days and hours varying.
Residents unable to attend a county clinic are encouraged to obtain flu and COVID-19 vaccinations through their health-care provider or a local pharmacy.
Franklin said vaccination should be combined with measures including regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes and staying home when sick to reduce the spread of seasonal illnesses in homes, schools and workplaces.
