CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The American Red Cross is urging Chester County residents to donate blood and platelets ahead of the holiday season, offering gift card incentives and free diabetes screening as it works to maintain hospital blood supplies during a period of heightened scheduling pressure.
The organization is seeking donors of all blood types, particularly type O, to help ensure hospitals have sufficient blood products for patient care through the fall and approaching holidays.
Donors who present to give blood or platelets between October 19 and November 22, 2026, are eligible for a $10 Amazon gift card delivered by email and 500 bonus points redeemable for a $10 electronic gift card through the Red Cross Blood Donor Rewards program.
The combined incentives are worth up to $20. Additional information is available at RedCrossBlood.org/Maze.
The Red Cross is also providing free A1C testing for successful blood donations during November, which is National Diabetes Awareness Month.
The A1C test measures average blood glucose levels over approximately three months and is commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes.
The organization will provide one A1C result per donor per calendar year. Donors should not fast before giving blood.
The incentives accompany a series of blood drives scheduled across Chester County during the first half of November, including locations in Berwyn, Devon, Exton, Kennett Square, Malvern, Oxford and Phoenixville.
The West Chester Blood Donation Center, at 1065 Andrew Drive, also maintains regular donation hours throughout the week.
