WEST CHESTER, PA — A Dairy Queen location in West Grove was cited for multiple food-safety and maintenance violations during a June 17 inspection by the Chester County Health Department, including repeat labeling deficiencies and plumbing leaks.
Inspectors documented five violations at the Dairy Queen in Jenners Village, including a repeat violation involving six prepackaged frozen dessert cakes that lacked required food labels.
According to the inspection report, the cakes were removed from the sales freezer during the inspection and will be sold from behind the counter until proper labeling is provided. Ingredient and allergen information was available upon request.
Inspectors also found containers of ranch dressing and mayonnaise stored in a refrigerated prep unit without labels identifying their contents. The squeeze bottles were labeled during the inspection.
Additional violations involved facility maintenance and sanitation.
The report cited a cabinet door hanging off its hinges beneath the drive-thru ice bin, leaks beneath a handwashing sink and the sanitizing compartment of a three-bay sink, and a need to clean the floor beneath and behind the ice machine.
The Chester County Health Department noted that inspections represent conditions observed at the time of the visit and may not reflect a facility’s long-term food safety practices.
