WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County Commissioners Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz, and Eric Roe have announced the launch of key projects developed from citizen recommendations under the Innovate Chester County initiative. These projects, marking the first phase of the program, aim to address pressing local issues, including children’s mental health services, veteran resource communication, affordable housing, and enhancements to Chesco Connect, the county’s community transit service.
“Through ‘Innovate Chester County’ we invited residents to explore new ways to tackle some of the complex social challenges we face in county government today,” said Commissioners’ Chair Josh Maxwell.
The initiative saw more than 100 residents join collaborative workgroups after a county-wide call for applications. Participants brought together their professional expertise, personal interests, and innovative ideas to present solutions to county challenges.
“The Innovate Chester County work groups started meeting late last year and quickly developed thoughtful ideas that ranged from volunteer ambassador programs to public education campaigns for affordable housing and enhanced communication of resources in areas like agriculture and mental health,” noted Marian Moskowitz.
Commissioner Eric Roe commended residents for their dedication, stating, “The interest people have in improving our community by working together truly sets Chester County apart. We are excited to begin implementing these ideas and seeing their long-term impact.”
The county plans to move forward immediately with recommendations that leverage existing resources while further exploring projects requiring greater investment and partnerships with nonprofits and private stakeholders.
Innovate Chester County exemplifies a collaborative approach to governance, empowering residents to take an active role in shaping solutions to community challenges. The progress of these projects is set to deliver meaningful outcomes for the people of Chester County in the months and years ahead.
